Today was australia day, the day brittish sailors first stepped onto this land (1788 or some shit).
Some indegenous people may refer to this as 'invasion' day... but this political movement towards changing our nations day pissed me off today. If we celebrate being australian on a different day, then that makes coming here and taking indigenous land all hunky dory then?. Wak.
So we came here, stole land,, and feel like shit about it 364 days a fuckin year. Then our one day comes along to say "Fuck yes, i'm australian and proud of it" and rrrrrr. this shit got me aggro. just hating politics, indigenous kunts, australians, our humanity.
So change the date, i don't give a fuck, just don't rub my nose in someone elses shit!!!

Hi Mangled. I get where you're coming from on this issue.

Here in the USA we celebrate our Independence Day from Britain, because its important to be free. Which is why our founding fathers (all Englishmen from upper class backgrounds) wrote the Declaration of Independence. This document states that all men (not women, mind you) are created equal and we certain "inalienable" rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Good stuff - considering the author, Thomas Jefferson, owned slaves. Guess those "inalienable" rights only extended to upper class white men.

We also celebrate Columbus Day, in honor of Christopher Columbus, the man who "discovered" America. How you get credit for discovering something that's already there, I can't figure. Maybe that's because I'm part Native American, and kind of take exception to how all native lands were grabbed. Except for useless wastelands that were "given" back to the natives as reservations.

The list goes on and on.

KPissed - Don't even get me started on WW2 Japanese "relocation" facilities.

I miss the old days when there were some really nasty Australian assholes on J.R. Where did they go?
