It certainly does get more dishonest and dirty than that.   How about the mother fuckers who rape our economy by sending jobs and contracts for manufactured products overseas to increase their profits?  They are, in effect, evading our nation's immigration policy that limits immigration of unskilled workers who compete with Americans for low skill jobs here, by sending overseas the jobs that low to medium skilled people used to do here.  They put thousands of Americans out of work and, via the domino effect, out of good credit, out of health care, and out of their homes as well.   And while Americans are out of work, contributing to the unemployment figures, the greedy bastards responsible for it all sit in their limos or they sit beside their huge swimming pools on their huge, private, gated, secured, security patrolled estates, far away from the rest of us, with little concern for any of us.  And when they say the recession is affecting them too, what they really mean is that this year, instead of four new luxury cars and two months vacationing in the south of France, they'll have to settle for three new luxury cars and only one month at their Aspen ski lodge or their house in Hawaii.  Because they have to cut back, since the recession is such a bitch you know.      And they all, Democrat and Republican alike, stand by and do nothing while this shit goes on, because the rich power brokers are the ones who pay for their campaigns when they run for office.  Besides these rich guys are doing this, so it's not the office holders mess.   Right?     Extra credit if you can name one large retailer with a name that begins with W that imports almost every fucking thing they sell from China, a country that will not allow any goods to be sold in China that are not manufactured there.

I guess you never had your auto insurance company charge you extra for dropping one old car off your insurance because now that you have only two cars left on your policy, the chances you'll have an accident with either one of them just increased 34%.    I suppose your town has never voted down a bond issue or the local school budget or a tax increase, and the town just never pushed these fucking things through anyway.   And I suppose you have not been to a gas station, supermarket, or gotten a donut at Dunkin Donuts that used to be twice the size it is now, for less than half the current price.    By the way, for extra credit, what recently deposed New Jersey governor asked the state legislature to increase the sales tax by one full percent, then, when the legislature voted it down,  held all the citizens of the state hostage by shutting down all state services for a week until the legislature gave in and gave him his fucking penny?  (Hint - his initials are J C and he had a beard and also got in a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike (speed limit 65 max) while doing 95 MPH and not wearing a seat belt).

Believing all these shit fucked statements and statistics about unemployment being down is like going out to fuck a diseased prostitute with a condom that's got a hole in it.  It might give you some cause to feel secure that you're safe, but its a big fucking LIE!!!

Why?  Simple.  The statistics only reflect the number of people actually receiving unemployment benefits, not the actual number of people unemployed.

Example:   Company A downsizes.  They lay off 1,000 low skilled, low wage earners averaging about $2.00 over the minimum wage, 20 office staff workers averaging about $12.00 an hour, 2 middle managers each making about $75,000.00 a year, and have 1 senior manager accept an early retirement at age 58.    So here's what happens to these people:

Everyone starts collecting unemployment, with the possible exception of the senior manager.

Of the low wager earners, 100 will find new jobs making the same money with the same benefits.  500 find new jobs but all at minimum wage and without the benefits they had at Company A.   For a lot of these people, the loss of those benefits is catastrophic to their family and budget, marginalizing them in the economy.   Another 200 will have to accept temporary work or leave the state to get work elsewhere, usually for minimum wage.  200 will not find new work, and will be completely disenfranchised, disappearing into homelessness or, in the case of younger female workers, getting pregnant to collect welfare.  So at least 200 people will still be out of job from day one, and possibly the other 200 who got temp jobs will be out of a job again in a short time due to lack of seniority, downsizing, job cuts, etc., at their new place of work.   But eventually, all of them will be off unemployment benefits when they run out.     So you do the math, 1,000 people are unemployed as of say March 1st.   600 find new jobs.   400 remain unemployed or underemployed.   But by September 1st, everyone's unemployment benefits will have run out.   So what's the unemployment rate for these low wager earners?   According to the government statistics, they are all accounted for as not collecting unemployment, so the unemployment rate is 0%.  In reality, the unemployment rate is 4%, because even though they aren't collecting unemployment, they are still not working regularly.

Now on to the office staff.  Of these 20 employees, the younger people in good physical shape and who are relatively pleasing in their appearance will find equal work at other companies.  Lets say 10 out of the 20.   The other 10 break down this way:   Four of the older femaie workers and one of the male works, all over 50, will never find work in an office again due to their age.  All the skill and experience they have gained in a lifetime of employment will be wasted when they are forced to take minimum wage jobs in retail or fast food establishments.  They will never again have regular hours, decent pay equal to what they earned before, and probably not be able to purchase the health insurance the new company offers because they can't afford it.    They will also never again have that sense of self worth they had doing skilled office work when they are relegated to menial positions due to their age and/or appearance.    Two young office assistants working their way through college will have to quit school to work or will have to take low wage jobs.   The three remaining employees will just disappear into the hole in our economy.   But according to the government, once they are not collecting unemployment benefits, they are all accounted for as being back to work and their unemployment rate is 0%.

Now for the managers.  These two managers have been with Company A for 15 years and 2 years respectively.   The fifteen year employee is 40 and will never find management work again, outside of retail, due to being over the hill as they say.  This person will have to cut back on everything, including saving for the kids college, thereby ensuring another generation of people without sufficient degrees to get good jobs.   This 40 year old employee will not be able to buy a new car for at least four years, and will cut back on all non basic spending.  This will not only cause tension and feelings of inadequacy on the part of the worker, and deprivation feelings in the family, it will also impace negatively on the economy.    The 2 year manager will have his condo forclosed on after only three years of ownership.  Not enough time to recoup the closing costs and down payment in a regular home sale.  His credit will be ruined when he has to file for bankruptcy, thereby ensuring that he will never pass the corporate background checks and never get another management position.   After all, they can't hire irresponsible jerks who can't keep up with their own bills, right?   So this person goes out and gets a government grant and starts his own business and does well.  A single sucess story in all the bullshit?  Maybe, but he has no health insurance because the business isn't doing well enough yet for him to pay for it.   But both managers are off unemployment, so the unemployment rate is 0%

Lastly, the senior manager.  After working twenty five years for Company A, she expected to retire honorably and comfortably at age 65.   She is too old to get another management job equal to the one she lost.  She is not going to have the lifestyle she worked hard for and deserved, because the retirement at 58 leaves 7 years of "where the fuck is the money going to come from" syndrome to be dealt with.  And 58 year old executives sometimes have children still in college or even high school that need tution, health coverage, etc.   Even so, this employee's unemployment rate, according to the government, is zero!  Just like the lifestyle she is going to be coping with.

So when the government tells you unemployment is down, what they really mean is a lot less people are collecting unemployment benefits.   And remember folks, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!   We're not in Kansas anymore Toto.

How dare you call Ross Perot a rat bastard!!!  Ross Perot would have run this fucking country like a business, so we could get the fuck out from under that load of national debt.   He would have demanded resume's from politicians running for office.  And he sure as hell would not have us sunk into a pile of debt to fucking China of all fucking countries on earth! 

Ross Perot understood the meaning of things like loyalty and integrity.   Unlike Clinton who was not only unfaithful to his wife and left Monica Lewinski hanging out to dry, but also did shady real estate deals with his wife as co-conspirator.   Clinton was such a fucking waffler, he admitted he broke the law by smoking marijuana, but had to sashay around the point by saying he smoked but didn't inhale.   WTF?  Just possession of weed is enough to get the average Joe arrested and get some jail time or community service and a stiff fine.  But it's ok for our Chief Executive Officer to get himself a nickle bag.  And this is the man who represented the American people before the whole world.  And as for Bush, that son-of-a-rich-bitch made it very plain that he could give two shits about the American working people, because he basically did nothing to help us during the recession.   Can you say "Read my lips!"?  I thought you could.

And whereas Clinton was divided his time between screwing the American people and screwing some bitch or other behind his wife's back, and while Bush was fishing in pristinely maintained lake waters in Maine while the price of seafood went up out of reach of most Americans who didn't live right on the coasts, Ross Perot was being loyal to his chosen running mate, Stockdale, even though people criticized him because they said Stockdale was too old to be VP.   And Perot dropped out of the campaign (although he got back in again later) because he didn't like it that the press (with a little help from the opposing candidates) started a smear campaign against his daughter.  That, my critical friend, is loyalty and integrity.  Two things that are nearly dead in our culture and long since gone the way of the Passenger Pidgeon into extinction in our government.

Finally, Ross Perot was richer than Bush and a self-made man.  He knew the value of a dollar in terms of how hard it is to earn one and harder still to hang onto one.   Perot had enough money of his own, not to have to depend on granting favors and political paybacks in the form of deals that would screw over the American taxpayers, in exchange for pay-to-play campaign contributions from the fat cats in industry, banking, and the insurance business, etc.    Unlike our current President Obama, Perot could have afforded to do things straighforwardly and without being beholden to his "supporters"..    The tarrifts and import export controls and agreements he proposed would have not only kept the jobs here that have gone overseas, they would have ensured the creation of more jobs as our population increased.    He would sure as shit have dealt with the fucking illegal alien issues and smacked those companies that have outsourced so many Americans out of their jobs with major and painful fines to encourage them not to fuck so many people over.

Well, I guess we'll never know what Ross Perot might have done as President of the United States of America.   Let's just hope the fucking country lasts long enough to see what kind of President Obama will turn out to be at the end of his term, and that the end of his term won't be the end of our country too.

If there was complete 100% employment of the population then HUGE wage inflation will occur as companies will compete for a limited resource. Poor people that are unemployed and living off the system also provide a service for the employed. These so called gov't leeches recieve money which is used to buy products from the companies that employ people. So in a sense you can say that even an employed person is a gov't leech!  Getting back to the fucking unemployment shit; the baby boomers are were set to retire and there are NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE in America to fill the numerous jobs that are needed to keep this country going.. So the gov't went on a huge campaign to destroy American wealth by creating a housing and stock market crises. Now many people are broke and  will have to wait longer to retire. And with today's increase unemployed; people can get re-train to fit those jobs that need working people the most!

I'm so sick of everyone hitting on the race issue with Obama.  Why bother about race?  Black or white, he's a fuck up so far.  He got a Nobel Prize for nothing.  He talks a good talk and walks a good walk, but it's all empty air.   He never actually gets anything done.

In his state of the union message, he mentions making the banks pay back the bailouts and not use the money to fund fat retirements and executive raises.  But what is he really doing about it?  Can he pinpoint anything, even an interoffice memo, where he clearly instructs someone who has been given authority to get the job done, to actually start doing this?   And that part about small businesses not having to pay capital gains tax on the sale of their business was a great idea, but it was an empty gesture since most small businesses are not selling at a profit (capital gain) at all these days.   And what about eliminating the capital gains tax from senior citizens who sell the homes they have lived their lives in and paid years and years of increasing property taxes on?  They are entitled to make a few dollars on the sale of their home so they can fund their retirement.  They should be allowed credit against capital gains on the sale of their home if they are using the money for a long term care package or an assisted living arrangement, not just if they are buying another house that cost more than the one they sold.   Now that would be a meaningful CHANGE that would actually help people.

And here's another suggestion.  Why not make it mandatory that all welfare recipients take a weekly blood alcohol, drug and nicotine test, before they get a welfare check?   Anyone caught using gets no discretional spending money, just housing (paid directly to the landlord), food stamps, utilities (paid directly to the providers - and cable and internet are NOT utilities), medical care, and a bus pass so they can get to the drug test.  Now with everything paid for them, why do they need any cash at all?   And smoking is an unbelievably expensive habit.   Most smokers are into at least one pack a day.  At over $7.00 a pack, that comes to $210.00 for each 30 day month!   And no one on welfare should have an expensive cell phone either.  If they can use the phone to talk all day, the government should set them up to work from home answering phones.   But since it's hard to interpret their Ghetto Jive, I guess that won't work.  And neither will the welfare recipients.   Still, it's an idea for a good CHANGE.

And how about sending a bill to the Chinese for all the help we gave them in WW2 to fend off being overrun by Japan?  With interest at about 4%, that should not only cover any amount we "owe" China, it should even give us a profit!  How about not sending any foreign aid to countries where a lot of US jobs have been outsourced to.  If they are working they don't need our help.  Right?   And what about landing heavy penalties on companies whose CEO's are US citizens, but who outsource so many jobs that they put a lot of other US citizens out of work?    All these sound like a good CHANGE to me.

Obama, in short, is just another bag of wind when it comes to keeping campaign promises of making good on what he says he's going to do.  Just like all his predecessors in the chief executive office.   The only difference is they were white plastic trash bags full of shit.   Obama is a black plastic trash bag full of shit.

Please don't talk about wage inflation and outsourcing in the same sentence!

Most of the outsourced jobs are low to medium skilled labor, assembly line unskilled labor, and white collar low skilled clerical and office jobs, most of which top out at two dollars over the minimum wage.  And as for wage inflation in other jobs, let's not forget to thank the greedy fucking labor unions for that shit.  Let's face it.  You can't have some people putting shit in boxes at minimum wage in one factory, and have unionized people putting similar shit in similar boxes for $18.00 and hour.  It just does not work!

And as for inflating wages, most people get a cost of living increase, if that.  Most landlords raise rent every year.  Grocery stores and big box stores raise prices every year.  And don't even get me started on gasoline!   Wages have to keep up with these other increases or things fall apart.

One of the biggest problems is places like Wal-Mart who pay minimum wage and then conduct orientation sessions for their employees that show the employees how to collect government entitlements, like housing and utility supplements, food stamps, etc., all to supplement their minimim wage income.   And no one thinks to ask our president or any other elected assholes, this question:  

Why is it not possible to live on the minimum wage? 

If the government goes to all the trouble to pay a fortune for committees, and economists, etc., to determine a minimum wage, why don't they check to find out if you can actually live on that amount?   In the same country where labor laws say that a person should only work a 40 hour week, how can they say its ok to pay people a minimum wage that forces the wage earner to have to get a second job, NOT to save up for a goal, but just to survive at subsistance level with no hope for a better future.

I live in New Jersey.  The average one bedroom apartment around here is $1,100.00 to $1,300.00 per month, not including utilities, phone, etc.   The average Wal-Mart employee at 40 hours a week, claiming one dependent, brings home around $922.00 a month.  You do the math.  And that does not include such basics as food, utilities, transportation, clothing and laundry, and life and health care insurance.  Never mind saving anything or paying for the education needed to get the hell off the minimum wage carousel.

Our President needs to stop listening to the asswipes the government has hired to conduct all these studies to see how much the minimum wage should be and pick up a fucking newspaper and check rent vs. minimum wage paycheck.

Listen up Headon.    I don't know where you live, but rents in Camden, Trenton and other New Jersey cities with a high population of low income and minimum wage earners at HIGH AS HELL!!!   Average rent for a one room efficiency apartment in Camden and Trenton is $900.00 per month.  Average rent for the same digs in New Brunswick is $1,100.00 per month.  In Newark and Elizabeth areas, this same one room apartment is around $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 per month.  In Jersey City and Hoboken, its well over $3,000.00 per month for a studio or single bedroom, not counting electric service.  All these areas are terrible sink holes of drug use and abuse, theft crime, welfare fraud, violent crime, domestic violence and child abuse.  The streets are filthy and due to this, plus density of population, people get sick a lot by contracting contagious diseases.  Every day people get bitten by rats and most of these shitty buildings are infested with roaches, rodents, and a host of other disgusting, not to mention potentially deadly, verminous pests, including fleas, bedbugs, lice, biting flies, etc.  The poor and underpaid live in these areas because they are on public transit lines so they can get to work.  Even if they had cars, they would be hard pressed to find a parking space anywhere after 4:00 PM, and the car would most likely be stripped or stolen overnight.

How do I know this?  Because I am a volunteer housing coordinator for a nonprofit organization in the Trenton area.

Why are the rents in these shitty places so high?   Simple.  The greedy bastards who own these fucking slums get twice that amount from welfar recipients, no problem for Section 8 program renters.  Section 8 housing allotments are based on area average rents.  Thats why the landlords raise the rents so high, to push up the average.  Their philosophy is "The Government is paying - not the actual renter."   Most of these slumlords pay bribes to the housing inspectors to get their dilapidated shit holes "Passed" on the inspection, thereby obviating the entire reason for the Section 8 program, which is to offer affordable decent housing to people of low income.

So the real issue regarding minimum wage is that the Government needs to come to terms with reality about things like housing costs and location vs. available transportation to work for low wage earners.  They also need to have a minimum wage regional adjustment.  I just bought a vacation home in western Pennsylvania.  The two bedroom, one bath house, complete with off street parking, in a fairly nice little town, cost me $16,000.00 (plus around $1,500.00 in closing costs.).  That same house would go for around $120,000.00 in Trenton, in a shit neighborhood.  In a nice area of Trenton (and yes, there are nice parts of Trenton), this house would cost around $220,000.00 - with almost no yard.   Rents in the area of my vacation house are around $300 a month for a studio apartment up to around $650.00 for a three bedroom with all utillities included.   The same studio in a nice area of Trenton would be $1,400.00 a month.  That would be $1,100.00 to $1,200.00 in a shit area of Trenton.

Minimum wage in both areas is - THE SAME!!!!

So a Wal-Mart Blue Vest could actually live on the PA State minimum wage without much government assistance.  They would have the self respect that comes with knowing you work and pay your way in the world.  The same Wal-Mart Blue Vest in NJ would need government subsidies just to sleep indoors, not to mention for food, medical care, etc.   WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

So you tell me genius, how the hell can you compare minimum wage earners in two such disparate housing cost locations?

And as for that Craigslist shit, forget it.  Most of those "apartments" listed are roach ridden, rat infested, fire traps, where the "neighbors" are junkies, alchys, thugs and thieves, and the landlord lives in a galaxy far, far away.   Some of these "landlords" who advertize on Craigslist should be shot, or at least made to live in their advertized apartments as punishment for deceiving people.   And by the way, Headlice, you are assuming that the average Wal-Mart blue vest has internet service or access to it so he can look for a Craigslist bargain apartment.  

There are "affordable" housing places available - if you can "afford" to wait three or more years on a constantly re-prioritized list.  Every time someone with a better sob story comes on the list, you get bumped back down a notch.   In short, you could find yourself waiting five or more years for a nice place.   And don't forget that a lot of regular rent apartments rule out any minimum wage earners on the basis of percentage of income for rent.   When they are willing to accept low income tenants, they only want people on Government rent subsidies, just to make sure they won't have to evict people who lose their jobs.

So try this Headshit, go to the website for the Star Ledger, which is the most published New Jersey paper.   Click on the classified ads and look at apartments and prices.   Next, print out the classifed section, roll the sheets tightly into a funnel shape, and shove the whole fucking wad up your ass.  Then light the end that sticks out of your ass with a match.

Oh and before I forget, go fuck yourself.  In an affordable housing unit.
