I am so sick of this shit! I have been an ordained Minister for over a decade...just NOT of the Christian religion. Michigan has made my credentials worthless. I can no longer perform marrages. Michigan law has been changed to state that you "must be a minister of the GOSPELS"..to perform a legal marrage in the State of Michigan!!!!!!!!

I am so fucking sick of religion. It's enough to make a Witch go Carrie on the world.

BTW.....Keep your fucking girlfriends at home! Tommorow is the full moon, which means a Coven meeting. This one member changes girlfriends like most people change their socks, (well maybe not Headon).....and he BRINGS them to Ritual! WTF???

If you were an Ordained Minister before the Law changed there most likely is a GrandFather clause.

That aside, Judges, Justices of the Peace and people in other non religious positions perform marriages.

I suggest look a little deeper into this law; the way you've described it, it sounds discriminatory towards non Christian believers, which of itself is illegal.

Oh KING SouL, I wish it were true, I myself can't believe that in 2011, this sneeky kind of legislation still happens, but it does! Here is how it reads on the Michigan books:

CHAPTER 83 - Chapter 83. Of marriage and the solemnization thereof. (EXCERPT) 551.7 Persons authorized to solemnize marriage; records; returns; disposition of fees charged by mayor or county clerk. Sec. 7. (1) Marriages may be solemnized by any of the following: (h) A minister of the gospel, anywhere in the state, if the minister is ordained or authorized to solemnize marriages according to the usages of the denomination, and is a pastor of a church in this state, or continues to preach the gospel in this state. (i) A minister of the gospel, anywhere in the state, if the minister is not a resident of this state but is authorized to solemnize marriages under the laws of the state in which the minister resides.

My son lived in Arizona for awhile, and it looks beautiful.I would move there in a second if I could! Alas, We live on a 1500 acre farm, a FAMILY farm.....kind of stuck here.....3rd generation and all.

No actually DIP SHIT, we own the farm, two other thriving businesses, and 6 rentals. Just one of the combines we use alone, cost more then you will make in ten years asshole.

Wait - this is ridiculous - I am not a Christian I am Buddhist and I would want a ceremony of my own religion and would not want a Christian minister involved. that doesn't sound like it is within Federal guide lines anyway - freedom of religion is guaranteed to all of us not just the bigoted Christers.
