Anonymous raged 12 months ago —— I put this in Crappy Companies but I wish you had an category for landlords.

I've lived in this apartment complex five years, pay the rent on time or even early, never do anything against the lease, have loud and late parties or bother any one. I keep my apartment clean and it looks nice and neat all the time. So I guess this makes me a good tenant right?

No it dosn't. If it did my landlord might be more fair with me.

When I moved in here five years ago, the rent was $1200 a month. I had to pay two months rent plus another months rent as fees for background checks, and other bullshit charges that I couldn't figure out - total of $3600. But its a nice complex so I paid up.

Every year, they raise the rent about 6% with a couple of other sneaky increases for "taxes" and "maintenance" and assorted bullshit nickle and dime increases. This all adds up to about 9% a year. And each time they raise the rent, the bastards also ask for an equal percentage to add to my security deposit so it "remains current with my monthly rental payment".

So now I'm paying like $1,690.00 per fucking month. And in all this time, they have not painted nor done one fucking thing to improve this place or done any maintenance at all inside my apartment! And I pay all my own utilities except trash collection.

So my complaint is this. I saw this same complex advertizing in one of those rental books. The same fucking apartment I have and it was advertizing for $1200.00 a month!!! Wtf? These landlord mother fuckers are giving newcomers a huge fucking break and making me pay through the fucking nose! What the fuck is up with this shit? They should charge them more and give good long term tenants a fucking break!

When I asked them about this shit at the management office, they just said they were charging new renters below the rental market rate to remain competitive, and once they were here they'd be paying the same percentage increases as me. But The New People Are Still Getting A Better Deal, Because It Will Be Five More Fucking Years Before They Are Paying What I Am Paying Now!!!!! Fuck!!!!!

Sorry about this long rant but these greedy fuckers have made me have it. I'm going to check out some "competitive" rates at another complex.

Angry tenant - moving on.

Where in the fuck do you live? For $1700 per month I would be expecting hookers, cleaning service and free fucking cocktails all fucking day. Anyways I second the motion for a landlord section. Have you ever seen the sticker that says Kill the Landlord. I think that would be an excellent title for the crappy landlord section "Kill the landlord"

Move out man. When ever a place _EVER_ says they are raising your rent always say you are moving out. In most cases they will not raise it because of the loss in rent trying to find a new tenant, re-painting, cleaning, adertisements, and so on.

Get the fuck out while you still can. With rent as low as it is these days you could be saving a few hundred bucks a month.

    Hell 1700 is a fucking morgage on like a 300k + house.

    So let me guess. Hmmm?

Could be Sunny California where it may actually be worth it to pay that much in rent if you want to be in the movies (in the cast that is, not the theater eating over-priced popcorn).

Maybe you live in Honolulu, Hawaii, where there's lots of sun and surf, to enjoy, not to mention fresh pineapples and live active volcanoes.

I thought you might live in New York City, but have ruled that location out, as you'd have to pay twice your rent for a fucking broom closet you'd have to share with the roaches.

Or, you live here where I live. In the Garden Fucking State of New Jersey. Here, the best use you could put your next rent payment to would be paying someone to grease the stairs so you could sue your landlord after a fake fall. They say there's no way to proove a back injury, and disability is the only real secure income these days. Plus with the money from your law suit, you could buy a condo or a house. Or maybe even an apartment building so you could raise the tenants' rents every year (or month) to suit your financial needs.

Anyway, unless you have a two bedroom, two bath in Princeton, with pool, tennis court and private gym, you're being screwed.

Good luck on your next move.

KPissed - Who wonders why they still have the nerve to call this toxic waste dump The Garden State.

We own some rentals..one is a cute little cottage with a yard, and one is a 3 bedroom, 1000 square foot apartment, with a yard too!..and they only rent for $500 a month! Granted, we are in a very small town...but, damn, $1700 a month seems really excessive!

Greedy bastards is right! The fuckers at my place do the same shit. They give you a lease which means the rent should stay the same for a year. Then they add all these cocksucker charges for maintenance and shit to THERE FUCKIN BIULDINGS!

WTF? Shoudnt they make that part of the fucking rent? Not charging for every fucking broken light bulb and shit.

Last year was $35 a month BESIDE the regular increase by end of year!

Up until a couple months ago, I lived in the shittiest apartments you could imagine. It was $720 per month for a one bedroom apartment. They said that the utilities were included in the rent, so I thought that maybe $720 wasn't too bad. There were 3 buildings on the property, and they split the utility bill evenly among ALL the residents, so I wound up paying another $120 for fucking utilities. I lived there for 3 years, and after a while, I started to notice bed bugs. Gross, right? So, they didn't even TRY to fix it, and I was a model. I lost my career because of these shit bags. After a while, more and more started to fuck up. They turned off the water for WEEKS at a time, no electric, and the fun one, ROACHES. So, I'd have to pay $840 to these asshats while I was sleeping at my fucking dad's house. I called the health dept. and they gave them a warning, blah, blah, blah. Shit STILL hadn't changed, so I just stopped paying my rent. I know I broke the lease, fucked my credit, whatever, but $840 for a piece of shit broke the bank. So, they evicted me, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to find anything if you have evictions, so now I have to live with my mom.
